Understand that each page from your script will equal a minute of dialogue, and you have been asked to create a five to seven minute vignette. So, if you want a five minute vignette, you will need to produce a five page script.

Wrap-up the Two-Day Interview AssignmentWe are planning to watch these today!!! Second, Introduce "Student Share" Segment of Our ClassStudents will get picked, at random, and asked to share YouTube content, first with Mr. Richards, and then with the class. This content MUST BE APPROPRIATE! The content should be under twelve minutes (nothing too long). The content should be of interest to the entire class (don't pick a video that highlights some obscure aspect of your obscure hobby). Example: Third, New Groups; New AssignmentStart to brainstorm story ideas in your new group. We will discuss script-writing on Friday :) No hate, no violence, and no expletive
Finish working on the Two-Day Interview AssignmentWe WILL look at these on Wednesday The Assignment is linked hereWhat can I do if my group is finished?
Brainstorm: What kind of stories do I want to make for the Hawk-Nest News? How can I tell those stories? Do I need a script? Do I need to write questions? Do I need a "crew" to help? Who is available to help? Do they want to help? What are their ideas? Today is not a day that you will be able to leave the classroom! Continue working on the Two-Day Interview AssignmentThe Assignment is linked hereTwo Day Interview Assignment1) Get to know your new group members.
2) Pick a topic that is relevant to the school, or this neighborhood (please take this seriously). 3) Develop some interview questions based on that topic. 4) Practice interviewing. Do not film yet! During Practice, make sure that everyone has a chance to act as an interviewer, and everyone has a chance to be interviewed. Additionally, everyone should watch other group member interviewing and being interviewed. In other words, take turns and watch the process if you are not one of the two people involved in the current interview. 5) Refine your questions, and develop some follow-up questions based on your experience. 6) Figure out how you are going to divide up the workload. Who will be the interviewer, interviewee, camera person, and editor. If you have time) Film your interview. Be sure to use multiple camera angles, but only one camera. If you need to borrow a camera, please let me know. Also, if you need to borrow a lavalier microphone or a tripod -- we only have a few of each -- please let me know. If you have time) Edit your footage. Aim for a two to five minute video. Our goal is to watch our interviews next Monday, September 24th, 2018 Please print, fill out, and return this paper as soon as possible. Thank you. This was due on Friday, September 7th, 2018 First, finish watching our work from the last few weeks. Next, watch some videos to help us learn how to take creative interview shots: Last: Practice interviewing other members of your group, using the interview questions you developed last week. While you are practicing, work to develop follow up questions. First, finish watching our work from the last two weeks. Next, watch some videos to help us develop interview questions: Writing Interview QuestionsIn your group, you are going to Brainstorm Questions:
Keep in mind that you are developing brief and open-ended questions. Develop neutral questions that do not expose a bias you may hold Questions should begin with "who," "what," where," "when," "why," or "how." Organize your potential questions into categories to narrow them down If possible, put your questions in some kind of order (either chronological, or importance) Develop specific questions when possible. Develop five (5) distinct questions with your group. The subject of our interview questions will be the Crossroads of the West Gun Show's year-long (potentially permanent) suspension from the Del Mar Fairgrounds pending a policy review. We will share and critique our questions with the class. Watch some of our workContinue working on Last Week's projectIf you have finished...If you have finished, and WE HAVE WATCHED YOUR VIDEO FROM LAST WEEK:
I want you to partner up with someone else in the class who's video we have watched (DON'T BOTHER STUDENTS WHO ARE STILL WORKING ON THEIR VIDEOS FROM LAST WEEK), and brainstorm ideas for the school news. Pull out a piece of paper (there is lined paper in the back of the room) and make a list of things you would like to film/cover at this school/in this neighborhood/in the broader community. Example: the recent Del Mar Gun Show news NBC's local coverage KUSI's coverage CBS's local coverage Fox New's local coverage Continue Working on Wednesday's WorkWatch our work, as a classIf there's time left over Watch a Video or TwoHow to Develop Interview Questions Reminder: Please print, fill out, and return this paper as soon as possible. Thank you. This will be due on Friday, September 7th, 2018 (THIS FRIDAY!!!) How can we share images/footage with the other members of our group? Let's edit down the footage (?) we tookLearn five editing basics in Premiere Pro
Free Music Archive Today, we will edit the footage you took and uploaded on Friday. We will follow the first four steps from the Premiere Pro help page (above) to edit our footage together, remove any original audio from the images/footage, and insert new music downloaded from the Free Music Archive; our goal for this video is to make a nice, short (not too short), compelling video. Let's aim for a two to five minute video. If we have time, at the end of the period, we will watch and discuss our videos; if not, we will watch them on Friday :) |
